Premium Restoration is for the grill that's been sitting under a tarp for a year, the one you inherited with the house, or the one you almost gave up on. It's everything in a Deep Clean plus rust treatment, re-seasoning, and a protective finish to actually bring it back to usable condition.
Tools we use
- Everything from our Deep Clean kit — commercial steam cleaner as the primary degreasing tool, plus coil brush, pumice stone, and shop vacuum.
- Wire brush and steel wool — steam loosens scale first, but rust removal itself is mechanical; this is where that happens.
- Rust treatment solution — breaks down remaining oxidation without damaging the metal underneath.
- Food-safe seasoning oil — high smoke-point oil for rebuilding cast iron's protective layer.
- Protective coating — applied after cleaning to slow future rust and grease buildup.
Our process
- Full deep clean first — steam-based degreasing across grates, firebox, burners, and grease system, same as our Deep Clean tier.
- Rust assessment — we identify surface rust (treatable) versus structural rust (a part that needs replacing) before doing further work.
- Rust removal — steam loosens surface scale first, then rust is scrubbed off grates, firebox, and any other affected surfaces and treated with a rust solution.
- Re-seasoning — cast iron grates get multiple thin coats of oil, baked on at high heat to rebuild the protective layer.
- Protective coating — applied to help the grill resist grease and moisture going forward.
- Final inspection — we flag anything beyond cleaning's reach, like a burner or igniter that genuinely needs replacing, so you know before your next cookout.
Honest limits: restoration brings a neglected grill back to a safe, functional, good-looking
state — it doesn't replace structurally rusted-through parts. If a burner or firebox panel is too far
gone, we'll tell you rather than charge you to clean around a part that needs swapping.
How to protect a restored grill
- Use a genuinely waterproof cover — see our top 5 grill covers — cheap covers fail exactly where you need them to hold.
- Don't let the grill sit through winter without a proper winterization pass.
- Book a Basic Clean a few times a season to keep light buildup from becoming another restoration job.
- Re-oil cast iron grates periodically — see our seasoning guide — the protective layer wears down with use.
